Licensing

Private hire vehicles cannot be hailed in the street or picked up from a rank. Every journey has to be booked with a licensed operator before it starts, and the operator has to record it. That is the law, and it is why you book with us rather than flag one of our cars down.

Every driver who carries our passengers holds a private hire driver licence, and every vehicle holds a private hire vehicle licence and is insured for carrying passengers for hire and reward.

We record the expiry date of each driver's and vehicle's licences and documents, and a driver or vehicle whose documents have expired cannot be given a journey.

Before your journey we send you your driver's first name, their private hire licence number, and the make, colour and registration of the vehicle. Check the registration before you get in. If anything does not match, do not get in the vehicle — call us.

As a licensed operator we keep a record of every booking: when it was made, the journey, the fare agreed, the driver and vehicle that carried it, and who at Cityline took and dispatched it. These records are kept for at least 12 months and can be inspected by our licensing authority.

Our registered and operating address is Hillingdon House, Wren Avenue, Uxbridge, UB10 0FD. It is an office, not a public counter: our licence carries a no public access condition, so please contact us by phone or email rather than calling in.
